The most powerful marketing way would be Search Engine Marketing on the internet so far., including Contents match type advertisement. It's truely global scale advertisement. But, if a company attract people and keep them in a virtual community which the company created, the company may control what to sell and offer. |

So, to have own website for the company is the first thing to do ?
Not exactly. The first thing to do is to know what kind of advertisement is appropiate for the company's product or service, and how other companies are doing promotion of theirs in the internet.
What sort of "Impact" is effective in selling products in the internet ?
A beautiful webpage design? A quite impressive wepage structure ?
I think "a satisfactory information" in simple and easy style on the page is enough for the beginning, but the most strong "Impact" is that the page is shown on the first search result page in major Search Engine. Sometimes or in most of case, a real buyer does not pay so much attention whether it is as a search result or ad on the page.
Doing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) seems so easy, but to get real & stable effect is not so easy and it takes time (months). If there is a budget to spend in advertisement, it'd be good to try with Advertising programs search engines offer such as Google AdWords.
A popular method for SEO tuning was "to get link" from as many as webpages y/or as high as those PageRank. But, the things have changed and nowdays it's not so simple and easy (or it was so easy to do so). I quit seeking webpages or website where I could get links long time ago. Because too much time and energy consuming task to get a very little effect. It was much easier to have a weblog and continue writing, focusing on a specific topic. Unless you exercise spamming with weblog, automatically focused keywords get higher SEO points. Even sometimes it lasts not so long but, it works. Keep writing on the specific theme, automatically weblog build up links and links. Then, after months, if Google or Yahoo does not evaluate as it should be, the problem is not yours but theirs. Confident with what you wrote, but not evaluted by Search Engines, it happens. Unknown or undefined reason may cause it. Instead of blaming it, you may expand or combine related webpages in different servers. Of course, avoiding contents duplication or mirroring. Again, it takes time to construct a good SEO tuned websites (weblog in a server, database style in a other,etc.)
Community style websites give you an idea, how to make your website more popular and prosperous one. A community space or function which attain users to the website, for fun or for giving them something, or as information source, forum, gaming, make friends, etc. Webmaster or admin may know flavour or favorite or each user and target ads in appropiate way. It's like having Free Entrance Amusement Web-Park.
I found an amazing forum style but new style social community site : myLot. Number makes more numbers. This community site offers profit sharing with forum user.
I believe the key for success in doing business in the internet is "how many user do you have". But, you can not build up in short period a huge user population, you use SEO knowhow or Advertisement where Big Search Engines have "users".
Not yet global scale community, but there are some websites or programs where quite enfocused goal and purpose. A interesting fact is that most of member or user are active. Just thinking of number, free weblog hosting or website hosting services sites have a huge number. But, how much % of them are "active" ? Probably, free weblog or website hosting service is not so much attraction anymore but is just a part of community contents.

One of attraction for internet user is "making money". Combined as community site area, PTC / PTR would work to gather users relatively quick. The followings are quick fact of some of PTC / PTR sites. How to promote your own PTC / PTR sites ? It's easy, just promote using others.

An easy way to approach to money may be goining to where money is. But a smart way would be a core where people bring money. Gold rush style causes a lot of competition, but shopping center style may hold people within certain area. However, just settling a center (either for shopping or entertainment or other purposes) does not complete it's function. A promotion of newly established center to people is needed. Not like real world socity, in the web-society the high costy ads and propaganda are not needed. Even though, still a marketing mind and practice would be required together with some luck.
Using Internet Search Engine through SEO or SEM, email style promotion, or adding attraction feature in the site, etc. but not replying on only one or two methods but combining all existing and thinkable methods, would determine how many people (consumer) come to the site.
Attraction feature (such as affiliate program, like Amazon's Associate program) would encourage people back to the site repeatedly, or gift, give-a-way, coupon type cash back, etc. as motivation for consumer and at the same time, converting consumer into promoter.
At initial stage, Get-Paid-To programs (PTR, PTC) can be used as advertisement tool at inexpensive level. Probably promotion or introduction of the site through Email Ads would be better.
Speaking of the marketing in the web, weight of importance with SEO (as Search Engine Optimization) maybe has been over-evaluated?
As volume of visitors into Google or Yahoo, if you can get led a nice percentage of such visitors to your website as traffic, it'd be fabulous. However, when focused on specific leading keywords, not all keywords have equal volume of traffic. Probably, internet marketing or e-commerce related keywored may tend to have more traffic, but off-line popular keywords reflect drastic up and down as demand in searching.
So, depending on such demand (after some comparison and investigation), the dependency on SEO would not be so much, specially in constantly high volume traffic gaining websites.
